She/Her/hers
Hi there, I’m Lacie! As a sex positive therapist, I believe in the importance of looking at things through a holistic approach, considering the emotional, social, physical, and spiritual wellbeing of people. I believe communication is the key foundation to connect with others, yet many of us don’t always know how to communicate in a healthy, constructive way. I frequently work with individuals and couples seeking therapy for communication and relationship issues, including sex and intimacy.
Growing up, I was the shy, sensitive kid in the back of the room who struggled with fitting in. This continued into middle school and throughout high school. I had a difficult time feeling “too much,” and enjoyed spending time alone, making me feel like a weirdo or outcast because I didn’t always want to go to crowded parties. Once I moved away and experienced living in different places, I learned that I wasn’t alone with these feelings. These new experiences started my journey in psychology and brought me to where I am today.
Marriage and Family Therapy is rooted in Systems Theory, which means we are impacted or influenced by many different related components. These components can include spirituality, family of origin, different relationships throughout life, culture, past traumas, and just to name a few. Learning how each of these plays a role can help create a better understanding of the self, and how those components impact our thinking, emotions, and behaviors. I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental space to be vulnerable, and show up as my authentic self to make the therapy process a positive experience for all.
Experience & Education
I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Washington. I received my Master’s degree in Marriage, Couple, & Family Therapy, with a specialization in Sex Therapy, from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, and my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Utah, in Salt Lake City. I am also a certified Wellness Coach, specializing in breaking down those hard-to-accomplish goals that cause additional stress, and creating holistic routines to help you live your best life.
My internships during school included the community mental health agencies, where I had the privilege of working with a wide range of clients experiencing many different issues. It was through my internships that I found my passion for sex therapy, especially working with adult individuals and couples struggling with anxiety, and communication around sex and intimacy.
I most commonly utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and incorporate elements of Mindfulness-Based methods, and Skill-Building Therapies. I am Gottman Level 1 and Level 2 certified and have training in Animal Assisted Therapy.
More About Me
